Carpet Cleaning

Like all textile materials, the beauty and life of a carpet depends largely on the care that it is given. Proper maintenance can add years of attractive life. The main cleaning method we use is Hot Water Extraction.

Hot Water Extraction

Hot water extraction cleaning

Though commonly called 'Steam Cleaning', no actual steam is involved in the Hot Water Extraction (HWE) cleaning process, apart from steam that may escape incidentally from the hot water that is delivered under pressure when the cleaning solution comes in contact with the carpet/rug/carpet tile.

The typical cleaning method involves pre-spraying the carpeted areas with an alkaline (7 or above on the PH scale) agent. Spots and stains will be lightly agitated with a hand brush and appropriate dwell time for the chemical to ‘work’. Next, the surface is passed over several times with the cleaning tool (wand) to thoroughly rinse out the pre-conditioner and, using an acetic acid solution, lower the PH of the fibres to a neutral state. Finally, the surface is dried (using vacuum extraction of the cleaning solutions) to avoid any possibility of saturation.

We use the Steempro Powermax SX2100 by Prochem. We feel it is the ideal high power carpet extractor for the single operator. The SX2100 incorporates a large 35 litre solution tank in a compact body design for maximum efficiency and portability. With an internal ‘whisper quiet’ intercooler motor the Steempro Powermax represents the state-of-the-art in professional carpet soil extractors.

All operatives using the SX2100 machine have received one-to-one training from one of our Area Managers who themselves have been trained by Prochem at their training academy in Chessington, Surrey.

Hard Floor Maintenance

Hard floors, resilient floors, slip resistant floors and wooden floors all require regular cleaning and periodical maintenance to retain the appearance and properties they were originally chosen for.

  • New floors - we can protect them
  • Badly maintained floors - we can restore the finish
  • Problem floors - we can deal with spills, damage or incorrect maintenance
  • Specialist floors - we can advise on what extra care is needed

Hard Floors

Marble, stone, terrazzo and travertine are all semi porous and can collect dirt, grime and scratches from foot traffic as well as stain damage from liquids. The correct sealant, properly applied, seals the pores and protects the surface from damage.

Further treatment every six months (depending on traffic levels) will help to maintain these floors in optimal condition.

SCC use mostly British Nova floor care products to prepare, protect and maintain these types of floors.

Resilient Flooring

Vinyl sheet, vinyl tiles, rubber and linoleum, are designed to be durable, resistant to stains and comfortable to walk and stand on. They are normally found in areas of high traffic due to thier resilience and ability to bounce back under stress. Resilient flooring is applied to a smooth and levelled sub-floor using specially formulated adhesives.

The appropriate seals correctly applied will help to protect these floors. Regular cleaning and periodical maintenance will ensure long-lasting protection and optimal looks.

SCC use mostly British Nova floor care solutions to prepare, protect and maintain these types of floors.

Slip Resistant Flooring

Slip resistant flooring is a necessity for many businesses, for many reasons including Heath & Safety, building regulations and requirements demanded by the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act).

However the qualities that make these floors slip resistant, can also hold dirt, grease and grime. Daily cleaning with the correct products are therefore important but supplementary periodical cleaning is also required.

SCC use scrubbing machines with contra rotating cylindrical brushes (Rotowash) rather than rotary brushes/discs as these are more effective and clean right into the curved skirtings.

SCC uses mostly British Nova Safety Floor Cleaner for this type of floor.

Wooden Flooring

A beautiful wooden floor adds warmth, character and a hint of class to an office or workplace. But while it is a durable material in various respects, there are many ways in which wood flooring can decay or be damaged. For this reason maintenance is essential.

The correct seals will not only protect the wood from daily wear and tear but will make it easier to clean. Regular maintenance will ensure long-lasting protection and optimal looks.

SCC use mostly British Nova floor care products to prepare, protect and maintain these types of floor.
